Instead of avoiding whole rooms in your house during certain times of the day, talk to us about tinting your home windows.

Are you building your own house?

  • Consider that window film usually is a minimal increase in the cost of the window – only 10-15% more. These films pay for themselves very quickly, as they can reduce energy loss from 30-50%.

What is window glass tinting?

Window film is also known as window tint, solar window film, and home window film. But not all film is the same.

The definition of window film is well said by the International Window Film Association. It is film that is "composed of a polyester substrate to which a scratch resistant coating is applied on one side; a mounting adhesive layer and a protective release liner is applied to the other side. When the release liner is removed, that side of the film with the adhesive is applied to the interior surface of the glass."

Some of the differences in film are:

  • opacity – the amount of light that comes through the film
  • thickness – measured in micrometers
  • reflectivity - the amount of light radiation that is reflected
  • color - from grays and blacks to ambers and clear

Some of the types of film are:

  • Spectrally selective film – these block only certain wavelengths of light
  • Safety or Security films – these are designed to prevent glass shattering
  • Decorative films – these have patterns and / or colors
  • Privacy films – these reduce overall visibility

Home window tinting is installed on the interior of windows and glass doors.

Why would I want to use window tinting on my home windows and glass?

The benefits of having tinted window film professionally installed in your home are numerous!

In Florida and the southeastern United States, the amount of energy used in cooling your home is a large part of your monthly home budget. Tinting windows and exterior glass can reduce the amount of heat that enters your home, yielding a substantial energy savings every year.

You have Low E glass – therefore you don't need window film, right? WRONG!
Even the best Low E glass only blocks 67% of the UV rays. Window film will block 99% of the UV rays.

Additional benefits of tinted windows include:

  • UV reduction
  • heat reflection
  • glare reduction
  • energy savings – the cooler your home stays in hot weather, the less you have to run your air conditioner – saving you money
  • preserving your furnishings - particularly helpful in reducing fabric fading on your draperies and furniture
  • preserving your wood floors – especially in areas partially covered by area rugs
  • increased comfort and health for you and your family
  • provides more privacy
  • makes your home more attractive

What things in your home can be tinted?

  • Windows
  • Exterior Doors
  • Interior Doors such as French doors
  • Skylights
  • Exercise Rooms
  • Home Theater Rooms
  • Sunrooms
  • Porches
  • Greenhouses (that get too hot!)
  • You name it! If it's glass - chances are it can be tinted and we can help!
